Challenges

  • Create independent learning communities for grades PK-K, 1-2, and 3-5
  • Maximize opportunities for collaboration and extended learning
  • Respect the architecture of the original Evendale School

Design Highlights

With its sloped roofs and masonry exterior, Evendale Elementary echoes the tradition of the community's original Evendale School. But on the inside, this new building is a thoroughly modern learning facility. Three academic wings arrange classrooms around small group rooms used for testing, special education, and instruction. A large media center faces an outdoor learning garden where students can explore nature in a safe environment. A movable wall separates the cafeteria and gymnasium, allowing these two spaces to combine during convocations or special programs.
