The history of Fanning Howey begins with a homecoming and follows with a reunion. In the early 1960s, Ron Fanning moved home to join Ralph Fanning & Associates, his father’s small engineering firm in northwestern Ohio. He immediately recruited Clair Howey, a fellow architectural student from Miami University. By 1967, the two friends had assumed ownership of the firm. The rest, as they say, is history. In 1976, Fanning Howey merged with a northern Indiana firm led by Lee Brockway. Together, Ron, Clair, and Lee helped grow the company from a 30-person practice into one of the nation’s largest architectural/engineering firms. Along the way, new offices were established in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, and Louisiana. Today, Fanning Howey is a firm of more than 250 professionals in 9 regional offices. Led by the example of Ron Fanning, Clair Howey, and the late Lee Brockway, we work to strengthen connections within communities by creating vibrant places that reflect and embrace a sense of shared vision and purpose. |
