Challenges

  • Accommodate the heating and cooling needs of a school with multiple performance venues
  • Create an environment customized for the creative and performing arts
  • Minimize overall operating costs

Design Highlights

Cincinnati’s new K-12 School for the Creative and Performing Arts, the first school of its kind in the nation, will feature three different performance venues. To meet the needs of this unique school, engineers developed a central air flow approach to heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning that will reduce outside air being brought into the building, thereby lowering ventilation requirements. The system is expected to lower construction costs as well as long-term operating costs. In addition, specialty lighting and sound and recording systems will provide students with a professional-quality environment for learning.
