Meadowdale High School

Challenges

  • Achieve LEED® Gold Certification
  • Reduce overall energy costs

Design Highlights

The design of Meadowdale High School combines LEED Certification practices with a focus on common-sense energy reduction strategies. The high school will feature a thermal ice storage system, which can reduce energy costs by up to 30% compared to traditional building systems. A displacement ventilation system will lower operating costs while also providing a comfortable learning environment. Occupancy sensors and lighting controls will combine to reduce the amount of electricity used. The design, which is pursuing LEED Gold Certification, will also use daylighting strategies to have a positive impact on the learning process.
