Design Highlights
The complete renovation and reorganization of Bloomfield Township Public Library included the removal of 90% of the interior walls and all interior finishes. The library now includes outdoor seating areas for children, reading alcoves for adults, and a café. A raised computer floor and wireless network provide 20,000 square feet of computer access. Self checkout stations and an automated book return system increase staff efficiency, while high performance building systems keep operational costs in check. A 7-phase construction program allowed renovations to occur over a 30-month period with only three hours of downtime. The existing library, which had served the community for more than four decades, is now positioned to provide exceptional service for the next 40 years.
