Help the client choose whether to renovate and expand the existing library or to pursue new construction on the same site
Align all planning efforts with the goals of the recently created 2009 System-Wide Master Plan
Highlights
West End Library is the first major project to come from the System's 2009 Master Plan. A comprehensive feasibility study is examining whether renovations or new construction will best support the integration of the Borrower's Library concept – a program laid out in the Master Plan that focuses on meeting the needs of high-circulation libraries. The study includes three options, each of which examines the cost, programmatic, and sustainable implications of the proposed solution. Sustainability is a key concern in each scenario, with the new construction options anticipating the use of displacement ventilation.
